05 February 2009 22:30 : Men and Women Downhill Training !

Day without competition but not without effort !

Face to face took today its meaning. At the same time, we can assist on side the women downhill training on Solaise, on the other side the men downhill training on Bellevarde. At the center of Val d'Isere, on the snow front, the heads of spectators ranged from left to right. Alternately, there was always a skier jumping the bump of arrival, in the distance another racer rushed, the two giant screens were fighting for this unique and amazing spectacle !

The smoothers and the ski patrols, under the direction of the Sporting Club of Val d'Isère, was working behind the scenes for the success of the quality of tracks. From 7 o'clock in the morning till night, they look after to satisfy the needs of competitors to get a snow icy. Injections of water are made, and then hours to shovel and runs regular passages of sliding to remove any excess snow between each racer. At night, the ballet of snowcat rate this preparation for weeks. Hundreds of volunteers, each in their posts, host thousands of spectators who come to our station of Haute Tarentaise during this fortnight. It is also the atmosphere of these Championships !
